With over three decades of experience in education and research, Prof. Finkbeiner has made significant contributions to the fields of language awareness, multilingualism, and literacy. She has led the Association for Language Awareness (ALA) as President since 2006 and has held prominent roles such as International Area Chair of the Literacy Research Association (LRA).

Prof. Finkbeiner’s research spans cutting-edge topics, such as artificial intelligence in language education, digital learning, language awareness, cultural awareness, multilingualism, holistic- and action-oriented learning, and content and language integrated learning (CLIL). She is also known for her holistic approach to learning, fostering cooperation, and preparing educators for global contexts.

AI Expert for EU's CG CNECT

AI expert for the studies mandated by the European Commission’s Directorate-General Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CNECT). These studies explored the EU's critical digital capacities development beyond 2027, from research and development to deployment and adoption, across the 2028-2040 time horizon. The outcome of these recommendations as an AI expert was a set of measures to strengthen Europe's capacity in semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), cloud and open source.
