Biography
Prof. Dr. Claudia Finkbeiner
Prof. Dr. Claudia Finkbeiner is professor of Applied Linguistics, Foreign Language Research and Intercultural Communication. She is a world-renowned academic in the fields of language, culture and literacy and has published over 100 publications. She worked at the Faculty of Humanities in the Department of English at The University of Kassel, Germany for more than twenty years. She is currently the president of the Association for Language Awareness, Area Chair of the International Research on Literacy Teaching and Learning study group of the Literacy Research Association and member of several national and international research associations.
Prof. Finkbeiner has been very successful with receiving third party funding by the DFG, BMBF, DLR, Atlantis/FIPSE, ERASMUS+, Stiftung Innovation in der Hochschullehre, etc. She has won prestigious awards and stipends, particularly the Hesse Price of Excellence in Teaching Award, Hesse State Ministry for Higher Education, Research and the Arts in 2019. Prof. Finkbeiner gives young scholars the opportunity to receive outstanding professional qualification on the way to professorships within the frame of language, culture and literacy. She has published widely, and she is series editor of Literacy, Language, and Learning as well as founder and series editor of Language Culture Literacy.
